Ronny smiled "well, if that's how you wanna start a friendship, I'm all for it buddy. One-on-One battle. Ponyta, you're up!"
Ponyta steps forward as Ronny backs away, she stomps her hoof on the ground and readies herself for battle.
"Can't wait to see your Pokemon, dude. So who's gonna be facing my friend Ponyta?"

Hana frowned as the boy continued to chatter at him after sending forth his Ponyta. "Can't wait to see your Pokémon," he taunted. Well, his self-satisfaction would be short-lived, because the Poké Ball Hana was holding contained just the partner he needed. He may not have been about to endear himself to anybody with his next move, but he wasn't interested in making friends. He didn't trust this boy; he didn't trust any boy.
"Let's go, Relicanth."
With a growl, Relicanth appeared from the Poké Ball and planted herself on the ground. Together with Hana, they stared straight at the opposing Ponyta, awaiting its first move.

Ronny grins with excitement as the Relicanth emerges. "Type advantage doesn't always win battles dude. and we're gonna prove it! Ponyta use Agility!"
Ponyta rushes forward, quickly gaining speed, running circles around Relicanth. As he watched her, Ronny had a quick flashback to the two of them training with Maxi and Floatzel, how Floatzel would always hit Ponyta with a hard Aqua Jet, until she suddenly learned Agility, then Floatzel couldn't touch her, it's what ultimately lead to their victory over Maxi, and their adventure beginning.
Ronny knew she could handle any pokemon that was put in front of her, and knew she wanted to prove it. "That's good Ponyta, you got this girl!"

Relicanth remained perfectly still and calm, even as the enemy Ponyta became a blurred ring around her. If there was one thing their training together in Hoenn had taught her, it was that she could always trust Hana to make the right decision.
Hana looked on from behind her as the spectacle unfolded, proud of his partner's composure. He knew what move to try first. The enemy was trying to confound and intimidate them with speed, but no matter how fast you could move, you weren't going anywhere if the entire ground was out to get you. Hana knelt down to brace himself and commanded, "Relicanth, Earthquake!"
Relicanth's eyes glowed brown as she began absorbing energy from the earth around her. With a cry, she leapt straight up into the air and fell straight back down head first onto the ground, releasing the energy and sending out an enormous shockwave in all directions. The ground shook violently as all around Relicanth, jagged crevasses appeared, rocks flew up, and a tremendous cloud of dust rose. Both trainers would have to wait for the dust to settle to determine the attack's effect on its intended target.

The ground burst up from the power of Relicanth's Earthquake, Ronny watched as dust surrounded the two Pokemon. "Ponyta, jump using the debris and use Stomp!" Ronny called out, hoping Ponyta was able to do as he suggested. Suddenly Ponyta flew up over the cloud, thanks to the chucks of ground that sprung up from the Earthquake, she then divebombed down, hoof first, into the cloud. The impact cleared the smoke away, unfortunately, due to the smoke blocking her sight of her target, Ponyta's Stomp failed to connect. Ronny looked stunned that the move failed knowing that it might have been the only chance Ponyta had at winning.

The Ponyta had avoided the bulk of the damage from Earthquake by way of its famous leaping ability, but Hana knew Relicanth already had one accomplishment in her favor. The jagged, uneven ground would be more difficult for the enemy to maneuver across quickly. And they could easily take that to the next level.
The Ponyta's trainer had ordered a Stomp attack on its descent, but the dust was still too thick for any of them to see clearly what would happen. Hana perked up his ears and waited for the instant the Ponyta plunged into the dust cloud. He heard the sound of its hooves striking hard ground, and not a sound from Relicanth. "Rock Tomb!" he commanded.
From within the dust, the brown glow appeared from Relicanth's eyes again. She flopped onto her side and began repeatedly striking the ground with her tail. With each strike, large boulders burst up from the raised piles of earth around them and hurled themselves in the Ponyta's direction. Hana watched his Relicanth's performance, still on one knee as the ground continued to shake. Even if the attack missed, the path would now be strewn with boulders, further lessening the advantage of Ponyta's Agility. A direct hit, however, wouldn't be particularly comfortable, he imagined.

Rock Tomb hit directly, and due to the damage she had sustained from Earthquake, Ponyta was launched back, defeated. Ronny ran to Ponyta, cradling her head on his lap "It's ok girl, you did your best, I'm proud of you." Ronny gave her a berry in order to heal her a bit so he could get her to a Pokemon Center, helped her up, and took her to the Center. He looked back at his opponent "that was a good match buddy, maybe we can do it again sometime, see ya." Ronny walked off with Ponyta to get her healed.
On the way there he could see the disappointment in Ponyta's eyes "hey, come on girl, you did your best......we can't win 'em all right? Don't worry, we'll win next time." Ronny smiled at his friend, Ralts rode on Ponyta's back, patting her on the head, offering comfort as best he could. While walking Ronny suddenly tripped on something and felt on his face " Ow.....what was that?" Ronny looked at what caused him to fall. It was a Shiny Stone. "Huh....well how do ya like that? who would expect a Shiny Stone to be just lying here...." he picked up the stone and put it in his pocket, then continued on to the Pokemon Center.
Upon arriving, Nurse Joy and her Chansey helped Ponyta into the back to heal. Ronny and Ralts sat waiting, during that time Ronny thought back to the battle he just had.
"jump and use stomp!"
He realized what a mistake that was, he should've had her get out of the smoke first so he could assess the damage she had taken, but he didn't, instead he had his best friend launch herself head first into uncertainty. It was his mistake that cost him the battle. Ralts saw the disappointment on Ronny's face, walked over and touched his hand. Ronny couldn't help but smile as he placed his hand on Ralt's head "I know little buddy, don't worry, I won't make the same mistake again."
Ponyta came out, fully healed, Ronny and Ralts ran over and hugged Ponyta "I'm sorry girl, I messed up." Ponyta nuzzled against Ronny, accepting his apology. He thanked Nurse Joy and left, the three then headed off towards route 1

Hana walked over to Relicanth and picked her up, eyeing the boy carefully as he tended to his defeated Ponyta. Contrary to Hana's worries, however, the boy merely said his piece, then turned around and went on his way, presumably back towards the Pokémon Center. Hana was relieved that they had managed to drive the boy away before he'd had a chance to start severely bullying him or his Pokémon. "Nicely done, Relicanth; looks like you chased them off. That was an impressive battle." Relicanth cooed contentedly in his arms. It appeared to have gained a level from battling the powerful opponent.
Hana was about to recall Relicanth and start once more for Route 1, but then he took another look at the wrecked earth around him. "...Don't suppose we should maybe do something about this mess, do you girl? It was our moves that made it, after all." Relicanth yelped in agreement, and Hana smiled back at her. "...Use Earthquake."
Relicanth leapt from Hana's arms to the ground, and the brown glow returned to her eyes. With more controlled bursts of power, she began to stomp on the ground in various places, leveling it out and filling in some of the cracks. Hana did what he could to help, clearing the smaller rocks and boulders from the path. After a few minutes of work, they stopped and looked around, satisfied that the path was about as close to back to normal as they were going to get it.
Hana took one last look down the road leading back into town and saw in the distance that another large group of people and Pokémon was approaching; likely more trainers headed for Route 1. Not wishing to get caught up in anything else, he recalled Relicanth and began hurriedly making his own way towards the expanse of the Route.
