The irritated look was accompanied by a scowl and Kai crossing her arms defiantly at Theos statement. She didn't believe it, not at all! There was no way there were fish THAT big! (-_-)The girl was obviously fairly sensitive to her size, but honesty the others were completely in the right. The eleven year old girl did indeed appear to be much younger then she actually was. As a matter of fact, she and Lin (who was younger then her by five years) had once been mistakes for twins!
Kai was captivated by what Theo said. "Wooooow... You must have a lot of experience with Pokemon!" Her eyes shined with admiration. As Theo put away his own Pokedex, she piped up again. "Hey, Theo, I'll make you a deal! if you lived in a village, you probably don't know a lot about the electronics and all, right? If you help me with my Pokemon, I'll help you with all the techy stuff! Waddaya say?" She put her hand out, a huge smile accenting her features.
Then her attention was captured by another boy entering the area. He, too, spoke with the professor and Kai quickly came to the conclusion that he was one of the other trainers starting today. Although... He already had Pokemon. Obviously.
Confused but ever cheerful, Kai was excited to see the Pokemon by his side. As Ralts was placed on the ground and walked over to her. The child shook the Pokemons hand, her smile never once fading. She looked up at Ronny. "Don't be sorry! I love meeting people and Pokemon too!" Patting Ralts' head, she stood and took a step towards the Ponyta, then froze when she saw the flames emanating from it. With a shiver she withdrew, her Han defensively in front of her.
"Will it burn me?" She asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Then the Professor started speaking again, and Kai turned to pay attention. Well, as much attention as was possible for the child. Her eyes widened a bit at she heard how to catch a Pokemon. "But... I don't wanna hurt any Pokemon..." She looked upwards and thought for a moment as the speech continues. "Well... I guess... As long as I take care of it afterwards, then it's not too bad."
She took the Pokeballs and gently pressed the center button on one, gasping as it expanded in her palm. Her signature excitable grin appeared back on her face. "Oh yeah, Don't you worry, Professor! I'll be super mature when you next see me!"
She tried to force her features into a serious look, but instead broke down in giggles. "Can we meet our Pokemon now? Please???"

"Just made it to the port town of Wisteria in Touhoku and rested at the Pokémon Center. On my way north to Route 1 to train." Hana left a brief message for his parents with his Xtransceiver. Though they were often too busy to talk with him at length, he liked to keep them updated with his status on his journeys from time to time, which they appreciated. Exchanging the Xtransceiver in his hand for his PokéGear, he began following the Town Map out of the town and towards Route 1. He was curious to see what sorts of Pokémon species could be encountered there. His thoughts turned towards the current composition of his team. Though it did feature a variety of Types, there were some bases it currently didn't cover; namely, as it had no Bug, Fighting, or Fairy Type Moves, it was helpless to effectively combat Dark Type Pokémon should the need arise. He would have to be sure to be on the lookout for any Pokémon that could help him fill this gap in his team. At any rate, he figured that the Pokémon of Route 1 weren't likely to be of a very high level; thus it would be an ideal place to start getting Feebas' strength up.
On his way to Route 1, Hana had to pass through a slightly more crowded section of the town. Several of the people around him were identifiable as other trainers. It seemed as though every one of them he could see was traveling together with someone else. Every one except him. Hana lowered his head and accelerated his walking pace; the longer he stuck around here, the worse he would start to feel. He had traveled across three separate regions by himself now, going on four; in truth, he desperately desired a traveling companion of his own. How nice it would be if there was a girl who would be willing to share in the joy and excitement of a Pokémon adventure with him; one who would stand by his side as a trainer and a friend, whom he could talk to about anything. There were a few pairs and trios of girl trainers in his vicinity as well, and he couldn't keep his mind from entertaining the thought of traveling with one of their groups as well. As much as he wanted to try talking to one of them, he knew they wouldn't be interested in accepting a lone male trainer into their group. And even if they were, they would never accept him. That's the way it always was, and the way it always had been for him growing up. Talking to new people, making friends, making people want to be his friend...no matter how politely, sociably, and agreeably he tried to present himself, he couldn't ever keep himself from being the odd one left out. To him, it seemed that social interaction was a massive, unspoken game that everyone was just supposed to automagically learn the rules to growing up. Everyone except him. Pokémon were easy to deal with; you prove yourself against them in battle, you treat them well, you learn their strengths and weakness, and you command them in combat effectively. That's all it takes to earn their trust, respect, and friendship. It was all heavily researched and well-documented - all the knowledge you needed to be able to gain a lifelong companion in any random Pokémon you might come across, without any words required.
Where was the documentation on people?

June watched with a weary eye as the boy interacted with her Pokemon. Her over- protectiveness didn't stop at her human acquaintances, (the few that she had). She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at his comment; cute? When was the last time shed heard that? Probably never. It was rare to find people who understood the true beauty of Ghost Pokemon.
Voodoo, for her part, seemed to relish the attention she was getting. She raised her hands to cover her zipper- smile, as though embarrassed. She seemed even more amused by the strangers awkward gesture, raising her own hand and patting his. He obviously didn't have a whole lot of experience with Ghosts; they could become sheer at will and solid just the same, of course; how else would they be able to use moves like Lick?
June crossed her arms over her chest defensively as he stood, speaking to her. As he pulled his map up on his device and mentioned heading to the Pokemon Lab. Seeing as how the labs were almost always the center point for the town, June figured that, at the very least, it would help her get oriented with the surrounding area.
She nodded at his introduction. "I'm June." She nodded to her Pokemon, who waved cheerfully, the ever- creepy smile still present. "And this is Voodoo.
"Aren't you a bit old to just be starting out as a trainer now?" She asked, as usual speaking her mind without a filter. What was socially acceptable and what came out of Junes mouth were not always the same thing.
She watched as he began walking off, then glanced at Voodoo. With a sigh, she fell into step behind him. As they reached the lab, she happened to see through the Windows two other boys, and a (very) little girl. The thought of being forced to socialize with more people wasn't one she was willing to entertain right now.
"You... Go on ahead." She said, leading against the wall beside the door. "Well meet you out here when you're done..."

Theo would turn his attention to the doors as they again slid open by themselves, looking first to the Ralts then to the Ponyta. There had been a few wild Ponyta back on his island, so the sight of one here of all places was. . . a bit nostalgic. Theo would look to the fire horse's trainer and give a nod when he introduced himself "Theo" Short, sweet, simple, and to the point. Couldn't ask for much more from an introduction.
As he put his pokedex away Theo would look to Kai, giving a nod to her words. "Mostly the ones the village elders have trained since the time of their own journeys. But yes, I am experienced" No doubt he had some stories to tell. Running with the Tauros. Riding the wild Ponyta. Swimming with the Magikarp. . . and the occasional Gyarados. And of course, working in the fields alongside the various grass pokemon. When Kai made her offer Theo would think before giving a light nod yet again. "It is true. There is much of this outside world I do not know. Like how a cold wind can blow inside. I will share with you what I know." But, as Professor Ozpin once said. Knowledge can only take you so far. It is up to you to take the first step. ((Yes, I had to put that in there))
When Kai approached the Ponyta and asked about petting it, Theo would decide now was a good time to hold up his end of their bargain. "Ponyta in the wild will burn those they do not trust" he had found that out the hard way. But a trained Ponyta? He didn't know the answer to that. When the professor began to speak Theo would again look to her and Ryuu, accepting the poke-balls offered him and placing most of them in his pocket, while leaving one in his hand. Expanding it in his hand Theo would roll the poke-ball around, tossing it between his hands a few times before stopping and shrinking it back down to size, then placing it in his pocket along with the rest of his poke-balls. How did such a device hold pokemon that were, in some cases, many times the size of a person?
This journey would be rough. Of that there was no doubt. However, it couldn't be much more difficult than what he had already been through. Theo would nod when Kai asked if they could meet their pokemon already, glancing again towards the doors as they again opened and another male entered. Theo would also catch a glimpse of another female outside, but thought nothing of it for the moment. Looking back to the professor, Theo would speak again. "I must agree with Kai. The sooner we begin our journey, the better" And the sooner he could find out once and for all if she was wrong or right. For the professor, this was no doubt like deja vu. His sister, whom had stood roughly where he stands now three years ago, would have had the same attitude. Ready to prove herself.

Ronny exits the lab, picks Ralts up and hands him a berry from his pocket "whacha think little guy, nice people?" Ralts smiles big as he enjoys his berry, cheering loudly in happiness. Ronny strokes Ponyta on the head and smiles at his long time friend and partner "us against the world Ponyta. Let's go show 'em our strength!" Ponyta nays in excitement as the three start heading towards Route 1.
While making their way to Route 1 they come across a man who seems troubled. "Hey, your one of the trainers from the boat over.....um....Hannah right? Between you and me guy, nothing wrong with having a girls name. Name's a name. Speaking of which, my name's Ronny, Ronny Mask" Ronny extends his hand towards Hana "a pleasure to meet you."

Yuki was too busy examining the map to fully register what June had said. He wasn't purposefully ignorant, just easily distracted. Not to mention impulsive. It was half a second before he actually caught on to what his new acquaintance had said. "Swell, nice to meet you June. I shall remember your name for certain...." Holding his phone aloft, he wrote down the girl's name, alongside Voodoo's. "Without any sort of help."
He looked over the exterior of the pokemon lab. It did seem a great deal better maintained than the buildings of his hometown. The city he was from wasn't ancient or poor, but it didn't have a gym or even a pokemon center. It didn't see alot of tourist life and many of the buildings could use a coat of paint. Seeing how well-cared for the sleek lab was made Yukito feel much better about his decision to embark as a trainer. Which reminded him that he still hadn't answered June.
"Old? Well I suppose so. I wasn't originally going to be a trainer. I thought Pokemon were great and all, but I thought I was going to be some sort of scientist or engineer. This whole trip came as a bit of a surprise. A pleasant surprise mind you." Before long, they were standing right outside the building. He grinned and waved two fingers in a mock salute. "I'll be out in just a moment."
As he reached for the door, it opened and another boy walked out, this one with a Ralts in his arms. Yuki waved, but the boy seems not to have noticed. "Perhaps he's late for something as well." He caught the door and strode inside, barely containing his excitement. He approached the three people, a boy, a small girl, and a woman wearing a lab coat.
"Good afternoon Professor Eugen---- I mean Elane." He smiled, noticing her nametag. "I was close at least. And you two, er three." He turned to peer at the others, correcting himself as he noticed Ryuu for the first time. He mentally scolded himself for being oblivious. "Trainers I presume? Fantastic. My name is Yukito. I'm also a trainer, well I hope to be after today." He nodded politely, and then remembered something. He fished a paper out of his vest pocket and handed it to Elane. "This is my paperwork. I was supposed to be here ten minutes ago, forgive my tardiness. I would say it wouldn't happen again, but my mother didn't raise a liar."

Ryuu watched in silent fascination as the Professor continued her speech. It was a nice change from the lectures her father had given her about taking care of her Pokemon and how she was obligated to train Dark types because she was meant to lead the gym with her brother. Fat chance.
The boy named Ronny got his pokedex updated and left, just like that. Ryuu raised an eyebrow. Not a very social guy, is he? She shrugged it off and turned to the Professor.
"I'm going to take off. If any of you want a demonstration of how to capture Pokemon, I'll be on Route 1 in an hour." She waved and headed out, bag slung carefully over her shoulder, Hi-kun at her side.
Professor Elana accepted the papers from Yukito and looked them over. "That's alright, you're just in time to meet the Pokemon. They're in the back, follow me." She turned and briskly walked to a back door that lead to the back yard of the lab, a large feild with a pond for the water Pokemon that lived here when their trainers had no use of them.
"I trainer may only carry six Pokemon on them at a time," the Professor explained, "...those they don't use are transported here for safe keeping. My lab techs help me care for them while their trainers are adventuring. Ah, here we go. Maisy, are the babies ready?" Elana asked a young girl in a slightly too large lab coat. The assistant nodded her head and stepped out of the way, revealing a small fenced off area with a group of young Pokemon. Three of each: Mudkip, Fennekin, and Bulbasaur. One of the Mudkip was climbing on the others, trying to get a better view and the attention of the trainers.
"We've had to stock up with the new league starting. I've had a trail of new trainers coming through wanting their first Pokemon. So, here we are: The Water Type, Mudkip. The Fire Type, Fennekin. And the Grass Type, Bulbasaur. You may each choose one to be your partner along your journey. Choose carefully."

Kai watched Ronny leave, his sudden departure concerning her. Had she offended him by trying to pet his Ponyta? Well, whatever the case may be, she turned and smiled, offering her thanks to Theo for explaining the fire to her.
Then her eyes lit up again as Ryuu spoke and prepared to leave. "Really, Miss Ryuu? You're gonna show us how to catch Pokemon?" A squeal of excitement escaped from her. "I will deffinantly be there!"
As she was leaving another boy entered the lab. Apparently, judging by his words, she wasn't the only one who had issues with time management. She turned and smiled, holding her hands together in front of her.
"Hi!" She chirped. "I'm Kai! I'm gonna be a Pokemon trainer too!"
As Elana began walking, it took all the self control that Kai didn't have not to run as fast as she could, or skip or do anything else besides walk. She was so excited, so ready to start her own adventure, to make a name for herself. So ready to start her own story! Still, she kept it together enough to walk calmly with the others, though her constant chattering betrayed her collected demeanor. (Or lack thereof).
"I can't wait to meet them! I wonder what they're like! Do I want a boy or a girl? Oh, it doesn't matter! I just know were gonna be the best of friends! I can't wait to- there they are!"
As soon as she saw the Pokemon, Kai's patience ran out. With a giggle she ran ahead, kneeling down at the gate. Nine pairs of eyes blinked up at her, as the creatures within began crowding around her on the other side of the links.
"Awwww... Hi there!" She half- listened as Elana described them, but she definatly heard the words fire type[/font]. At the words all the color drained from her face and she quickly stood, stumbling back from the fence.
"I, uh... I..." She cleared her throat, Embarrassed, until she noticed one of the Pokemon. A Mudkip, climbing all over the others. He was tiny, like her, much smaller then his surrounding Kin.
"Hey there!" She walked over to where he was, (stirring clear of the Fennekin), and looked down at him. He looked right back, and cried out and stood on his back feet, paws against the fence.
Kai knew instantly that this was the Pokemon she wanted. With a smile she turned to the Professor. "I want him!"

Hana ignored the voice calling out in his direction and continued walking at first. It was a long-standing habit he had gotten into. No stranger ever had a good reason to come talk to him; it would be stupid to look up. Obviously, it was the case that someone off to his side or behind him was the person of interest. Or at least, Hana certainly hoped that was the case in this instance because the voice in question belonged to a boy. Probably not quite his age, but a boy nonetheless. As the voice continued to speak, however, it became apparent that Hana was indeed the intended recipient. Hana felt a wave of panic wash over him as red flags started setting themselves off in his head. Not only was his name not pronounced "Hannah" with the near-open front æ sound but "Hana" with the open central ä sound, it was also a name he was rather proud of, being the name given to him by his Kanto-born father. He didn't take too kindly to hearing it made fun of for being girly. But that he didn't care about. He was long-since used to random boys going out of their way just to come up and try to hurt his feelings. What really concerned him was, how was it that this boy knew Hana's name when Hana himself had been busy training his Feebas on the boat the entire time and was certain he hadn't spoken a word to anybody?
Hana had every reason not to trust this boy. He felt himself tensing up as doubt and trepidation continued to well up within him. The boy's polite greeting was likely just another trap to continue to stomp on his feelings. He glanced about nervously in every direction except the boy's face, trying to devise words or actions that would allow him to escape his predicament. Noticing the boy seemed to have two Pokémon out of their Poké Balls accompanying him, he suddenly hit upon a plan that would hopefully persuade the boy to leave him alone as soon as possible. He brandished a Poké Ball from his belt and held it forward, staring firmly at the ground. "Challenge accepted."

The girl nodded as Yuki waved to her, watching as he walked into the building. As she thought about what must be going through the boys head, she couldn't help but think about the day shed gotten her first pokemon. Of course, it had never been as eventful as this; June, at te age of eight, had been given her partner by her Father. She and Voodoo (a Shuppet at that point) had clicked immediately, instantly become close friends and inseparable partners. She knew that it didn't always go that smoothly between a Pokemon and it's trainer; she had been one of the lucky ones.
She sat down at the wall and reached out to take Voodoo into her arms. The little Ghost, along with the rest of her party, was one of the few individuals opening showed affection towards. She closed her eyes for a moment, remembering all the nights she and her precious Pokemon had spent sleeping under the stars, all the days they had traveled together. Often when it was just them, June would let her entire party out of their Balls, and just let them do as they pleased. She never had any doubt that they would stay close, and if they wandered off they always came back. She worried about their safety, of course, but wasn't about to suffocate them.
She knew how that felt.
With a quick shake of the head, June forced all that away. She didn't have time to think like that. She was here on a mission, for a very important, very specific reason. With a sigh, she stood, just in time to see the door open.
"Oh, good, you're done. That was awfully fa-" Her words were cut off by the person she saw; not Yukito, but a girl with dark hair and a familiar cowboy hat.
"Ryuu!" She cried, as Voodoo gave a shriek of joy and ran up to her, trying to get her attention. "Thank Acreus, I didn't know where to find you!"

How strange. One minute the male with the Ponyta and Ralts was here, and the next he was gone. Maybe he had some important business to take care of. Who knew? Not Theo, that was for sure. Theo would look to Kai and give a nod at her thanks, looking to Ryuu then as she offered to show them how to capture a pokemon. To him, the explanation was enough. But it never hurt to see a demonstration. "I look forward to it" Maybe there was more to it than the verbal explanation that was given. Guess he would find out in an hour, huh? Again Theo's attention was taken to the door as yet another male entered, greeting the group, to which Theo would give a nod. "Not yet. But once we are partnered with a pokemon, we will be" That's how he saw it at least. They weren't officially pokemon trainers until they had, you know, pokemon to train.
With that out of the way Theo would follow the professor and the others out to where their beginner pokemon would be waiting for them, Theo nodding at the professor's words. How were they transported? Did a Pidgey come by and pick up the filled ball? Or maybe a Diglett or Dugtrio came along, dug a hole under the filled ball, and dug a tunnel back to the professor's place. That seemed like an awful lot of work just to secure a single pokemon. Maybe he would try and keep his team as small as possible, so others didn't have to exert themselves that much on his behalf. On the other hand, if they were trained for something like this, then adding one person more to that list shouldn't hurt, right? Theo would give a light grin as Kai ran forward to meet the pokemon, shaking his head then. She reminded him of one of the children back home. He hoped she was alright.
Theo would approach as well, the trio of Bulbasaur catching his attention. Now this brought back memories. Bulbasaur was one of the many grass pokemon that helped tend the fields back on his island. One of the Bulbasaur, in an attempt to act cute, turned over on its side. However it turned too far and wound up on its back, struggling then to right itself. With an audible sigh the Saur next to it would shake his head, reaching out with his vines then and nudging his tipped brother over back onto all fours. The third Saur watched as the trainers all approached, but was quickly distracted by a flock of Pidgey flying overhead and proceeded to give chase. Like he had with the last one, the middle Bulbasaur would reach out with his vines and draw the other back, telling him something in poke-speak before looking back to the trainers. Theo would grin and reach over the fence, picking up the middle Bulbasaur and holding him at arms length, eyeing the grass type before speaking "You already know what its like to watch over others, don't you?" The Bulbasaur would nod with a Saur, Theo giving the grass pokemon a smirk. "Will you accompany me on this journey? It will not be an easy one. We may not return here for quite a while" Geez Theo. Were you trying to talk the Bulbasaur into going with your or staying behind?
The Bulbasaur took no time to think. He already knew his answer. The Bulbasaur would nod with another Saur, Theo nodding in return and putting the grass type on the ground next to him. This is what he was born for! Travel! Excitement! Adventure! And anything to get away from his brothers. The Bulbasaur could feel it in his bulb!
Theo would turn to the professor, to thank her for her help, when yet another person showed up. This time it was another girl. She looked to be a few years older than Kai, but a few younger than Ryuu. Whom. . . apparently she already knew? he guessed, with the way she reacted when she saw Ryuu in their group. Theo would look to the professor then, not wanting to interrupt Ryuu's reunion with her apparent friend. "Is this everything we need? If so, I'll be on my way" Yeah, to Route 1. The start of his journey with his Bulbasaur was about to begin. Was he in a rush? A little. He was at least trying to be a little reserved about it though.

Ronny looks into the man's eyes, surprised by the response, he didnt think about a battle when approaching this man. Though Ronny wasn't about to shy away from a challenge. He could only use Ponyta to battle a real trainer, Ralts was still young, not ready for a trainer battle.

Yuki nodded and followed suit, allowing the little one to go first. He smiled, watching her choose the water type. Next up was the other, noticeably more intense young man. He seemed to take a liking to the grass type. When it was his turn, he clapped his hands together and kneeled by the fencing in area, peering carefully at the Pokemon. "I'll have a go then."
First contestant? The fire type Fennekin. He waited for one to come over and watched it sniff his outstretched fingers. "Aren't you a cute little one. I like the ears on this pokemon, quite fluffy." The little Fennekin then wrinkled its nose. Moments later, it sneezed, letting out a little puff of fire that singed Yuki's fingertips. He withdrew them hastily, sticking one of his fingers into his mouth. "Youch. That wasn't pleasant. Perhaps not. Somehow I'd burn down the town with this one."
He gave the fire type a sad parting look and moved over to where a Bulbasaur sat, using its vines to scratch its head. "Oooooh. You seem to be a crafty one. The bud is wonderful, I think it'd be neat to see you with a flower someday. Oh wait, a flower?" This time it was Yukito's turn to sneeze. "I forgot, I'm rather terribly allergic to pollen. Won't be a good trainer on the battlefield if I have to stop in sneeze every few seconds."
Which left him with only one logical choice. He made his way over to the two remaining Mudkip. One seemed happy go lucky, and was content to rub against his hand when he patted it. The other one gave him a sort of grumpy sniff, then turned her tail on him. After a few moments though, she too let him pet her. "This one's got attitude. I like it. I'll name her Terra." He straightened up and watched professor Elana, waiting politely for anyone remaining to choose.

"Ryuu! Thank Arceus, I didn't know where to find you!"
Ryuu let her night-sky eyes fall upon the source of the familiar voice and her breath caught in her throat. Knowing Voodoo, though, she immediately knelt down long enough to greet the little Ghost Pokemon. Once she'd said her hello, she straightened and stared flabbergasted at June. Hi-kun busied himself with sniffing at Voodoo.
"June....what are you....what are you doing here!? Does your dad know you're here!? I thought you were suppossed to take over the gym this year!"
Ryuu's mind drifted back to the summers spent in Johto, visiting June and her father, and the summers June would come to Sinnoh. She fondly remembered the first time June had ridden a Rapidash, the first time they'd stayed up all night telling ghost stories and Voodoo would act out the part of the monster in the story. She shook her head free of those thoughts and bit her lip.
"I'm....heading to the Pokemon Center. Want to come?"
Professor Elana chuckled as the three new trainers met and chose their Pokemon. She walked over to Kai's side and fished the Mudkip from behind the fence, handing it and the Mudkip's pokeball to her. She handed each of the boys the pokeball of their respected new partners.
"Yes, I believe that's it. I suggest taking Ryuu up on her offer and learning how to catch from her. Make sure you've got everything you need for the long trip..." she paused as she turned toward the door.
"And Kai, dear? Make sure you call your mother often." She closed the door behind them, then disappeared back up the metal stairs.

Kai eagerly accepted the Mudkip from Professor Elana, holding him in her arms. The little guy blinked up at her, before giving a happy Mudkip! and licking her cheek.
She giggled. "Awww, he's so cute! What should I call you?" She pondered for a moment, before smiling again. "How about... Kappa? What do you think?"
The tiny Mudkip in her arms seemed to smile and nod energetically. "Kappa it is!"
She watched as Theo chose his Pokemon, all the while cradling Kappa in her arms. She was so happy, so excited to finally have a partner, a Pokemon she could be friends with and raise and make stronger. After he had chosen it was Yukitos turn.
Her gaze turned weary as he interacted with the Fennekin. When the creature sneezed and the spurt of flame erupted, Kai cried out and stumbled backwards, only regaining her balance before toppling over. Kappa looked up at his trainer, his head cocked to the side in confusion.
She gave him a tiny grin to reassure him before looking back up at the professor. "I'm gonna go watch her! Theo, are you gonna come with me? We had a deal, remember?"
She smiled at Yukito. "You should come too!" She looked towards the door, to see Ryuu speaking with another girl with ghostly pale skin. She looked a little scary, actually...
